First we have an initial meeting to discuss your writing/coaching needs. I then review a sample of your writing and work up an action plan for your writing project.

Topics

  • Writing Flash Fiction (Writing VERY short stories)
  • Creative Thinking for the Creative Writer
  • Writing for Publication
  • The Creative Writing Toolkit
  • Introduction to Fiction Writing
  • Advanced Fiction Writing Workshops
  • And many more . . .

Benefits

  • Honest, objective assessment of your writing strengths and needs for improvement
  • Motivational encouragement and guidance
  • Reasonable rates
  • 100% satisfaction guarantee
  • Personalized attention to your needs

Manuscript Critiques

For manuscript critiques, I will provide you with a copy of the standard proofreading marks, and I will review your work for:

  • Grammar, spelling, and usage
  • Proper manuscript formatting
  • Confusing, wordy, or awkward passages
  • Audience-appropriate tone and reading level
  • For fiction, whether the characters, conflict, and stories are believable

In addition, I will also provide a summary of overall strengths and weaknesses and suggest possible markets for your work, when applicable.

Why use a Freelancer?

Save money

Short-term projects often require short-term solutions. Why hire a full-time resource, or have someone who is not an expert at writing, handle writing tasks? Save money on benefit, salary, vacation and sick time.

Save time

Why waste time learning the tools of the trade or pulling all-nighters to meet a tight deadline? Outsource it and let me focus on your project while you focus on your business.

Improve your image

Get a fresh perspective on your business from someone who isn't immersed in it everyday.

Hiring a professional to handle your writing tasks allows you to focus on what you do best: Running your business.

Don't want to hire a freelancer for your projects, but want to train your staff to better handle your writing needs? Look no further. I am an experienced corporate trainer with many hours of classroom teaching experience.

Since all jobs are different, a quote will be made after the initial consultation. Short assignments are usually billed at a per-project rate. Longer projects may be billed at an hourly rate. One third of the contracted amount is due up-front with the rest due at mutually agreed upon milestones.

Revisions

Two rounds of revisions are included in the quoted price. Additional revisions are billed at an hourly rate.

Experienced using most of the common writing tools of the trade: MS-Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio, WordPerfect, Adobe FrameMaker, PageMaker, Acrobat, Macromedia DreamWeaver

Value

Get good writing at a good price. Less expensive than big PR or marketing firms, I may fit your need perfectly for those projects that aren't big enough to hire a salaried employee, but are necessary to help with your business.
