Squeezing Time Out of a Busy Life

Here is a short list of ideas of where you can find some time to write:

  • Watch one less TV show each week (or 30 minutes less of TV each day)
  • Get up 15 minutes earlier and write
  • Go into the office early and write
  • Eat lunch at your desk and write for the other half of your lunch break
  • Skip housework for the day
  • Order a pizza instead of cook
  • Hire a neighborhood kid to mow the lawn, rake leaves, or shovel snow
  • Get a babysitter for a morning or evening of writing
  • Let the answering machine pick up all of your calls for the day
  • Don't check e-mail
  • Write at while waiting for doctor's appointments, oil changes, or meetings
  • Work at home for the day and use the saved commute time to write
  • Schedule a writing appointment on your weekends or day off (and keep it)
  • Stay late at the office 15 minutes and write
  • Make an appointment with a writing buddy to meet somewhere to write
  • Shop for holiday gifts online
